SUPPORT HANTSPORT SCHOOL P-8

What Others Have Had to Say

“I fear that we may lose programming such as music and PE. Also the junior high set good examples for the elementary and vice versa” Natasha Zwicker, Hantsport

“Like most I would want our school to stay as is – I feel we have much to offer in our school for middle school students, plus it better prepares our children for entry into the larger schools.”
Juanita “Wheet” Wilcox, Hantsport

“Not in favour, very poor long term decision, short sighted to do at this time.”
Doug Irvine, Hantsport

“Keep the school the way it is”
Robert Newcomb, Hantsport

“I’m not entirely sure. I think that if closing the middle school portion the school would improve the education of the elementary portion it would be considerable, but really I don’t know enough of the facts to comment any further.”
Alison Murnaghan, Hantsport

“It would be awful to remove such an integral part of the community, it would be a huge loss all the way around.”
Kellie Walsh, Hantsport

“This is not in the best interest of the students in Hantsport. A majority of students are able to walk to school here. Let’s keep them in their community. Let’s keep as many students walking to school, not bussing them.”
Ruth Ross, Hantsport

“Thoughts based on what data? Is this one step before closing our school? A school is one of the foundations of a community.”
Jane Halliburton, Hantsport

“Our businesses will feel the effects of losing our middle portion of our school. Our sports teams would also be affected by this decision. Keep our community a town.”
Harold Bulger, Hantsport

“I think Hantsport school be left as it is and not changed.”
David Parsons, Hantsport

“I think this would be devastating to the town.”
Robbie Zwicker, Hantsport

“Would like the school to stay P-8”
Dianne McLellan, Mt. Denson

“I would like to see the school stay P-8.”
Pat Cuvilier, Hantsport

“Block if possible.”
Steve Turner, Hantsport

“I am completely against this.”
Carmen Dewer-Miller, Schurman Road

“I believe the younger children benefit from having their peers (6-9) in the same school. They (6-9) help with reading books with the younger children (P-5). It’s called book buddies!”
Joni & Martin Kehoe, Hantsport

“We are not in favour of the middle school being moved to LE Shaw or Wolfville. We believe that LE Shaw should remain an elementary school. We are disappointed with those that spoke at the public meeting on behalf of LE Shaw. They did not represent our view and we do not want elementary students from LE Shaw to be bussed to Wolfville or Hantsport. In addition, we believe that both Hantsport & Wolfville should retain their respective middle schools and that there should not be a combined middle school.”
Kathy and Jonathan Fuller, Avonport
